About us
Navreet Kaur, AccFM (OAFM)
I am an Accredited Family Mediator with the Ontario Association for Family Mediation (OAFM), based in Ottawa, Ontario. My passion lies in supporting families through the complexities of separation, divorce, and parenting by promoting cooperation and reducing conflict.
With nearly a decade of combined legal experience—including practice in both Family and Criminal Law in India—I bring a strong legal foundation and a client-centered approach to conflict resolution. I earned my B.A. LL.B (Hons. in History) from the prestigious Panjab University, Chandigarh, and hold an active enrolment with the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana (P-2/2018). Coming from a family of lawyers, I had the privilege of working with respected legal firms in India prior to relocating to Canada, which has given me a deep understanding of both legal frameworks and complex family dynamics.
I completed my Certificate in Family Mediation from York University and currently serve as a Court and Client Representative with the Ministry of the Attorney General in Ottawa, where I regularly engage with the judicial system and support courtroom operations.
As a mediator, my role is not to take sides or impose decisions—but to provide a safe, respectful, and neutral space where open dialogue can lead to practical, durable solutions. I believe that every family deserves to be heard and empowered during times of transition.
Additional Strengths:
- Multilingual Communication: I am fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi (spoken and written), and also speak Urdu fluently. This enables me to serve a diverse client base with cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Cross-Cultural Competence: My international legal background and multicultural fluency help me connect with clients from various backgrounds, ensuring inclusive and empathetic mediation.
